Since the "change" administration came into power, Nigeria which is 'supposedly' known as the Giant of Africa cannot even raise her head and answer her name, nor can they stand up to the occasion when it really matters. The rise in the value of another man's currency is greatly telling on Nigeria's economy to the extent that her currency has no value anymore. Five naira (#5) which is Nigeria's lowest currency denomination was held in high esteem by children but nowadays, this currency cannot buy anything tangible. The #5 currency had always put joy on the faces of little children but the reverse is now the case. Giving #5 to a child these days is equivalent to giving the child a blank sheet of paper.
I had always been taught that providing basic social amenities like water, good roads, electricity and others are an integral part of the basic responsibilities of every government but these basic functions don't seem to apply in this so-called 'change' administration. Minsters, commissioners, ex-presidents and other top government officials are arrested and sent to jail every now and then all because of looted money. Recovering looted money has turned into the basic function of the present government and they seem to be very good at it. Well, kudos for the nice job, but if I may ask what are these recovered money used for? I thought they were supposed to be channeled into the payment of salaries, or used to improve the living standard of the average Nigerian citizen or even used to make education better as a vital and necessary tool for the country's development, its quite difficult to conclude if any of these are prevalent in this Buhari-led administration.
The fight against corruption has so blinded the government that they have forgotten their basic obligation. In a bid to make changes, the educational sector of the country is in discombobulation. Imagine the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board(Jamb) withdrawing names of students they sent to various institutions for admision. A clear sign of confusion and incompetency. Even up till now, many higher institutions in the country don't have any laid down procedure with which to admit new students. and there goes the million-dollar question: where exactly are we heading to with these confusions?
The astronomical prices of commodities is nothing to write home about as they continue to increase by the day. Things are so bad that even our locally produced goods are now scarce in our markets and if we manage to find them, their prices are far above a poor man's pocket; what really happened to 'local'?
This certainly is not the type of change we voted for. Next time we should probably be clearer and let them know the type of change we want; we need positive change and not just change.
Kindly tell someone to tell our 'ogas at the top' we need PositiveChange in Nigeria.
God bless Nigeria and us all
